Paul is a senior lecturer in Geography at Makerere University. He holds a PhD in Geography with research interests in the interface of Geography and society, urban systems analysis and transportation, policy and planning, and local economic development. He has conducted research and published in the areas of quantitative social sciences, transition to sustainable
transportation, the political economy of transportation and urbanization. Further research has focused on the intersection and implications of environmental change and policy responses to changing urban systems. Dr Mukwaya has also undertaken consultancy assignments for UNDP, UNCDF, UN-Habitat, World Resources Institute (WRI) University of Manchester, and the Population Secretariat (Uganda). He has published over 15 papers, won 2 research grants and initiated 5 collaborations. He has supervised 4 MSc and 1 PhD. He has also attended over 10 international conferences.
